BLUE MIND

Growing the Groundswell. Taking action in the mission to widely share the transformative benefits of Blue Mind principles and its global impact.

As part of a passion project, Jean has partnered with world-renowned scientist, activist and NY Times best-selling author, Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, as Managing Director & Lead Researcher exploring the meaningful impact Blue Mind principles have had over the last decade, and “growing the groundswell” to help make Blue Mind principles common knowledge and common practice globally.

Spreading this knowledge to 8 billion people worldwide is an incredibly challenging goal, but they (and many others!) are up for the challenge. This project remains a living project and continues to evolve. The vision and goals are constantly morphing and growing as they progress.

Blue Mind refers to the meditative state people experience when in, under, on, or near water. Many of us have personally experienced and/or witnessed the positive, cognitive, emotional, psychological, social, physical and spiritual impact our waters have.”

What is Blue Mind?

The Blue Mind Method

Our waters and oceans provide vast cognitive, emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual values and benefits for people from birth, through adolescence, adulthood, older age and end of life stages. Wild, domestic, urban, and virtual waters provide a useful, widely available and affordable range of access to water environments.

  • The world ocean and all waterways, including lakes, rivers and wetlands (collectively, blue space), cover over 71% of our planet. Keeping them healthy, clean, accessible and biodiverse is critical to human health and well-being.

  • Blue space gives us over half of our oxygen, provides billions of people with jobs and food, holds the majority of Earth’s biodiversity including species and ecosystems, drives climate and weather, regulates temperature and is the sole source of hydration and hygiene for humanity throughout history.

Blue Mind Method includes (but is not limited to) safe and supervised participation in: swimming, board sports, floating, soaking, diving, boating, voyaging, fishing, paddling, interacting, beach and coast walks, wildlife watching and other blue space activities as best practices for health and wellness.

Our Waters Can Be Lifelong Medicine For ALL People.

“As NASA scientists search the universe they use a simple mantra “Follow The Water.” It is the source, matrix, and sustenance of all known life.”

Neuroscientists and psychologists add that waters and oceans are a wellspring of:

  • happiness and relaxation

  • sociality and romance

  • peace and freedom

  • play and creativity

  • learning and memory

  • innovation and insight

  • elation and nostalgia

  • confidence and solitude

  • wonder and awe

  • empathy and compassion

  • reverence and beauty

The Blue Mind Method also helps manage trauma, anxiety, sleep, Autism, addiction, fitness, attention/focus, stress, grief, PTSD, building personal resilience and MUCH MORE

So, what’s next?

In the next decade to come, we hope to see how Blue Mind continues to evolve, including further Scientific Validation, integration into Healthcare, Urban Planning & Design, Educational & Wellness Programs, Community Initiatives, Global Initiatives, Interdisciplinary Collaborations, Technology & Virtual Experiences, Cultural & Artistic Expression, Climate Resilience & Adaptation, Advocacy for Water Conservation, and MORE.

Our goal is to showcase the impact of Blue Mind and capture the tangible effects that Blue Mind has had on individuals, organizations, and communities.

Firstly, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the impact of Blue Mind, highlighting the positive outcomes and benefits that have been observed — raising awareness and promoting the movement to a wider audience, including potential collaborators and funders.

Secondly, we intend to serve as a resource for organizations and individuals interested in incorporating Blue Mind principles into their work. By showcasing the impact of Blue Mind, we hope to inspire and provide guidance for others who are looking to integrate this approach into their own initiatives or research.

Additionally, we aim to provide data and insights that can serve as a means of monitoring and evaluating the progress and growth of the Blue Mind movement. By documenting the impact achieved, we can help track the advancements made over time and identify areas for further development or research.

Overall, we aim to provide a source and hub for advocacy, inspiration, and collaboration in promoting the understanding and application of Blue Mind principles.
